Daniel Rachel was born in in the summer before The Beatles announced their break-up. He wrote his first song when he was sixteen and in 2001, he released his debut solo album, A Simple Twist Of Folk, on Dust Records, followed by A Taste Of Money in 2006. Daniel is a specialist in Forum Theatre direction.
Daniel’s true passion has always been to understand how artists write songs. After reading an American book called Songwriters On Songwriting, Daniel went in search of the British equivalent. He didn’t find it. So decided to create the book he wanted to read.
Isle of Noises: Conversations with Great British Songwriters features 27 of the UK’s finest musicians discussing the magic and secrets behind their art. The heart of the book is to understand songwriting and the creative process behind the craft.
‘…sometimes you know straightaway if someone’s going to be trotting out the same old stuff. Daniel’s obviously got a real feeling for the esoteric, romantic and spiritual side of it.’ Johnny Marr.
Daniel will be appearing in the Rock n’ roll part of Salon No.6’s in-festival series Sex, Drugs and Rock n’ Roll.
