CAN MUSIC CHANGE THE WORLD?

Daniel Rachel charts the extraordinary and pivotal period between 1976-1992 when musicians and their fans truly became instigators of social change.
From his conversations with the key members behind the Rock Against Racsim, 2 Tone and Red Wedge movements – artists including Billy Bragg, Pauline Black, Jerry Dammers, Tracey Thorn and Phil Jupitus – he brings to life the heady days of politics and pop music coming together for the first time in Britain’s musical history.
Daniel is himself a musician and his latest book, Walls Come Tumbling Down, has just been named winner of the Penderyn Music Book Prize 2017.
