DESCRIPTION:I will be DJ-ing a 2 Tone realted set in honour of Ranking Roger \n  \nOne of the best book bashes in the UK – The Quietus \nA literary festival that’s thrown its pretensions in a skip – Londonist\n\nThe coolest literary festival of the summer – Authonomy \nSince 2010\, we’ve been celebrating the area’s radical and literary history with a festival that’s become one of the most eclectic\, diverse and\, frankly\, FUN in the literary calendar. \nStoke Newington has been one of the most fascinating London ‘villages’ throughout history. From the non-conformists who gathered around Newington Green in the 17th century to the diverse community that exists today\, it’s long been a melting pot of new ideas\, artistic endeavour and off-centre thinking and our programming is directly inspired by the mavericks and rabble-rousers who were born\, lived or worked here – Mary Wollstonecraft\, Reverend Richard Price\, Edgar Allan Poe\, Daniel Defoe\, John Berger\, Marc Bolan\, Sid Vicious & many more – who helped shape the world we know. \nWe’re a non-profit organisation and\, as we grow\, we’re generating and supporting a range of adult and child literacy projects in Hackney.

As the enigmatic frontman of the multicultural band The Beat\, Ranking Roger represented the youthful and joyous sound of the post-punk 2 Tone movement. As well as his illustrious career with The Beat and General Public\, this absorbing book explores Roger’s upbringing as a child of the Windrush generation\, touring America and his outstanding collaborations with artists such as The Clash\, The Police and The Specials. \n\nDaniel Rachel\n\nMusician turned award-winning author Daniel Rachel wrote his first song when he was sixteen and was the lead-singer in Rachels Basement. His books include contributions from a fascinatingly diverse group of people\, including Noel Gallagher\, Tony Blair\, Tracey Emin\, Jimmy Page\, Bryan Ferry\, Laura Marling\, Sir John Major\, Steve Coogan\, Irvine Welsh\, Joan Armatrading\, Jerry Dammers\, Annie Lennox\, Damon Albarn and many\, many more… \n\nRanking Junior\n\nMatthew Murphy\, aka Ranking Junior\, is the son of Ranking Roger and an MC who has performed in a revised line-up of The Beat. \n\nRhoda Dakar\n\nRhoda Dakar is a British singer and musician\, much loved as the lead singer of the great 2 Tone band The Bodysnatchers and performer with The Specials.
